Here are a few rules to help:
- A player's BIRTH YEAR determines the age classification in which the player is eligible.
- A simpler way to think of it, how old a player is on December 31st determines their competition age for the entire season (which starts in August NOT January)
- Let's say a player is 14 years old, and has a fall tournament in September, but they turn 15 in November. That means they have to play 16U for that fall and the following summer. They can't "stay down" one more fall and then jump up to the next age classification for the spring.
- A player may play up, but cannot play in a lower age division.
- When in doubt it would be best to register a kid at their normal age division, and then let them play up. For example if the kid is 16U eligible, but plays on an 18U team, register them on a 16U team, and then they can be added to the 18U roster and freely play in either age division.
